Biography
Original and authentic. Rootsy, songwriter driven sounds from Fort Worth native, country crooner, Matthew Bryan Jones and his band of brothers is what makes up the feathers of Songbird Jones. “Come and see us. Lean in and listen. Give us a hand. Yell hallelujah!” - Matt
Fast forward to the present, Songbird Jones is taking off with recent openers for Jason Boland, Stoney Larue, Town Mountain, Pat Green and other great acts. Hotel Turkey has them booked to be the house band for Bob Wills Day 2026. Give Her The Reins She’ll Run has over 45,000 views and won Best Song Award at The Billy The Kid Film Festival. Their song Ropin was just licensed for use at the Utah Shakespeare Theatre Festival. And the It Takes Tulsa EP continues to receive airplay all over the U.S. and UK and most importantly right in their backyard at 95.9 The Ranch, Fort Worth, Texas!
Their journey began in Plainview, TX where Matt was pitching at Wayland Baptist. He wasn't a very good pitcher or guitar player, but his roommates would occasionally ask him to play a song or two and all too often the coach would let him throw his best stuff on the mound. A few years after college, Matt landed his first decent job, a landman in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. “It was here I felt compelled by forces beyond myself to write. The gaping hole left in my soul from a dead baseball dream, a new job and fresh perspective in the mountains was the perfect storm for brewing songs.” And Matt has been writing songs ever since.
Songbird Jones is just the right amount twang, a touch of soul and plenty of roots combined with authentic, original lyrics; songs about gourds, guitars, cowgirls, small towns and big cities, tall tales and true stories about people and the places they call sacred. The process of writing and then making these songs come to life for a live audience is the never ending well that keeps Songbird Jones cookin!
We look forward to seeing you at show!
Much Love,
Matt
